I am using this blog again. Quilting is my passion. I need a place to continue to meet and grow with other quilters. Stash manicure has become a favorite blog of mine and I was so inspired by it.
This is a quilt I have wanted to try for a long time. It was a silly story. The pattern was in an old Fons and Porter magazine. The pattern was never in a book so they allowed me to "buy" a copy. So they sent me a black and white copy for $5.00. Then I found that a friend from a quilting retreat has every issue of their mag. She copied me a color picture of the quilt. (I need color pictures). Later I found the magazine in a "quilt store" of used goods we have at our quilting retreat for a quarter. So now that I've spent $5.25 and have 3 copies of it there's no reason to not start it. LOL
I have always wanted to make a quilt with a colored background instead of a cream or white background. I found this great reproduction "double pink" that I wanted to use. Next I picked reproduction greens.
It has been a long process already. Let me show you the steps just for the "trees".
Cut strips
Sew them together into strip sets
Cut into 45 degree angle sets
Then repiece the angled strips into a diamond shape
Cut those into the "trees"
21 diamonds made 2 more to go. It will be beautiful but there is a lot of waste with this particular pattern. I will keep moving forward.
In the meantime I have what I call Ziploc projects. They are single quart size bags with a complete hand project ready to go. This is a wool penny rug. Looks like I have a Christmas theme going on this month. LOL
For me, finishing a little project gives me that accomplished feeling and then I can go back to the big project.
Off to creating.
